Bringing Up Father is an American comic strip created by cartoonist George McManus. Created by George McManus in 1913, Bringing Up Father tells the story of Irish-American Jiggs, a former bricklayer, and his wife Maggie, a former laundress, who suddenly achieve wealth and all the perks that come with it. While Jiggs continues to hang out with his old neighbourhood friends at Dinty Moorersquos Tavern, snobbish and pushy Maggie and their beautiful daughter, Nora, constantly try to elevate him, against his will, to his new social position.
