The Adventures of Derek the Dump Truck

Friends is the first introductory book in which the 10 year old Derek has a dream that he's followed his dad to work. When morning comes, sure enough, Derek sets out on his first big adventure. He follows his father to Quarry Road and hides behind a big tree to see what his father does all day when he's not home. Along the way, a little 9-year-old purple school bus by the name of Little Jamie bumps into Derek. She too is on the same adventure; she has followed her mother to work. You see, both parents work at the Quarry. The children see all kinds of vehicles, all sizes, shapes and colors on this magic adventure. When all is said and done, Derek and Little Jamie learn meaningful lessons about honesty and true friendship.
