It is the year 2101, and Earth is a paradise. Anger and desire for war has been replaced over the years by interests in science and technology. Living and working in space has become routine, and humankind is on the verge of reaching for the stars.Yet, like the Earth of today, scientists in the future still seek out a cheap source of energy to power their home planet. In one attempt to find that energy source, an experiment goes terribly wrong. The Earth heats up rapidly, climates change and billions perish. The blue planet becomes uninhabitable. The only known survivors are those living and working in space and on small colonies. While some attempt to repair the Earth, others venture out to the stars in search of a new home.
