Publisher Marketing: Six fully illustrated issues of a fictional magazine called Numinosity. Review Quotes : "If Life and Mad magazines had a child it would be ' Numinosity .' A genre-busting memoir that deftly blends visual and written elements into one creative powerhouse." --Jill Waterhouse, nationally and internationally exhibited sculptor. " Numinosity: A Fractured Memoir creates a whole new genre--a visual/verbal art form--that surprises and delights the reader with every turn of the page. The book is smart and funny, but also filled with an underlying seriousness that will take you to the depths of your resources and imagination." --Mary Swander, Poet Laureate of Iowa "The honesty of Morganstein's story makes this multifaceted book a page turner. Numinosity is one of the most approachable and creative ways to tell an autobiography I have experienced, in a format that anyone would be interested in exploring." -Kate Renee, Professional Artist and Artist Business Consultant Publisher Marketing : Numinosity: A Fractured Memoir is a book audaciously modeled on the iconic Life magazine. It consists of six chapters, each an issue of a photo journal called Numinosity . The content is based on pulse-raising events of the times and Morganstein's eccentric family history, woven into a fictionalized memoir. The issues feature articles written by invented personalities, all played by the author. In addition, she creates all of the advertisements for pretend products, making fun of consumerism with fond ambivalence. Like the artist Cindy Sherman, Morganstein uses her insecurities and swagger to make a larger point about the relationship of humor and tragedy in art, emphasizing that the key to liberating oneself from the past is embracing memory and creating a tragicomic story from it. Contributor Bio: Morganstein, Linda Linda Morganstein is an award-winning, overeducated writer of novels, short stories, and poetry, who also happens to be the product of a Borscht Belt childhood in the Jewish hotels of the Catskills. She currently resides in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
